Electricity: state aid on 1 January 2023

In order to protect individual customers from the increase in energy prices, the Luxembourg Government has decided to introduce some aid measures within the scope of the Tripartite Agreement of 28 September 2022.

New support for electricity

In order to counteract increases in the integrated electricity price for residential customers from 1 January 2023, the tripartite agreement provides for electricity prices to be stabilised at their 2022 level.

This stabilisation will be achieved by introducing a negative contribution via rate A of the compensation mechanism for customers in this category, i.e. final customers whose annual electricity consumption is less than or equal to 25,000 kWh.

Thus, irrespective of the evolution of energy prices or grid charges, the prices charged to eligible customers of rate A of the compensation mechanism will remain stable compared to the year 2022.

This measure applies automatically, no steps need to be taken and will also be reflected in the advances to be paid by the customers.
